Having back pains cuts you off from performing well in your work whether your job is easy or light; nothing gets done if you suffer from backaches. Age is usually blamed for this condition and although there really are many older adults who suffer from backaches; it’s not a normal condition. According to surveys, 9 out of 10 individuals experiences Back Pain at some point in their lives. And it can be caused by various factors like pregnancy, physical and emotional stress, fatigue, infections, cancer and other musculoskeletal conditions. To a varying degree, Back Pain is classified depending on its location; it ca be neck pain (cervical), upper back pain (thoracic), lower back pain (lumbar), and tailbone pain (sacral).
Although common, Back Pain shouldn’t be ignores or thought as a normal part of aging due to loss of physical strength and stamina; it can be experienced by anyone at any age. In some cases, it is caused by a serious medical condition thus further observation and even clinical study is needed to be done.
The pain felt is categorized depending on its duration. And for pain which lasts for less than 4 weeks; it is classified as acute while subacute pain lasts for 4-12 weeks on end. The worst however, is a chronic type of pain which can last for more than 12 weeks. Whether acute, subacute or chronic a pain that stays longer than expected should be consulted to doctors or specialists immediately for you to know what’s causing it. In addition, most back pains are self-limiting and non-progressive and should not be the cause of alarm to individuals. It’s most common signs can vary from intermittent pain, to localized or radiating pain. There can also be dull or sharp, piercing pain and even a burning sensation which may or may not radiate to the arms and legs. Other conditions associated with backaches are:
